Elbert Marlow Barron, 41, passed away on Sept. 30, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was employed by Allen County Juvenile Center. Surviving are his wife, Sarah K. Barron; mother, Sarah J. Barron; children, Jasmine, Cohen and Galen Barron; brothers, Timothy (Kim), Bruce and Rayshall (Claudia) Russell and Brice Barron; sisters, Vanessa and Tammie Russell; along with a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Barron. Services were Oct. 4, 2013, at Ellis Funeral Home, 1021 E. Lewis St., with burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Katahj Amard Blackmon, 23, of Fort Wayne, died on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home.

 

Jordan Lee Calland, 22, of Fort Wayne, departed this life on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013. He was born Dec. 27, 1990, in Fort Wayne. He graduated from Paul Harding High School class of 2009. He was employed by ResCare as a Residential Counselor. Where he enjoyed his job and was loved dearly by his clients and staff. Surviving are his loving mother, Vickie R. Williams; devoted father, Corey Lee (Jennifer) Calland; dedicated sisters, Victoria J. Pollard and Alexia L. Calland; brother, Adrian L. Calland; grandmother, Sue Williams; god grandparents, Jessie and Christina Reed; god mother, Shawn Pearson; godfather, uncle Bud; special auntie, Rosalind Cammack; his loving dog Hazel; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willie D. “Steve” Williams, Joshua Calland, and Shirley Shade. Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at Greater Progressive Baptist Church. Jason Edward Greene, 39, of Phoenix, Ariz., departed this life on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013. He was born on March 31, 1974, in Fort Wayne. He was a graduate of South Side High School and Indiana Wesleyan University. After marriage, he and his wife relocated to Phoenix. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Sarah; loving mother, Sharon; and his grandfather, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his “Big Momma” grandmother, Emma L. Greene. “Jason will be missed but never forgotten.” A memorial service will be announced at a later date to celebrate his life.

 

Mary Estella Hope, 75, of Fort Wayne, departed this life on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013. She was born on April 30, 1938. Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 5 at Kingdom Door Christian Worship Center, with burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.

 

Minister Haywood Jasper Sr., 80, passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at his home. He was the owner and operator of Woody’s Trim & Upholstery for 28 years and was a faithful and active member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church serving in many capacities throughout the church. He was also a Master Mason and member of International F&AM Masons King Solomon Grand Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Jasper; sons, Michael and Jackie Jasper; daughters, Juanita (George) Christian, Barbara Ann Heath, Dorothy Brown, Charlene (Curtis) Ferguson, and Emma Halfacre; grandchildren he raised, Marcie Story, Kris and Krystal Farris, Angie Wilson, Regina Cole, Linda (George) Burns, and Marquita Griffin; brother, Charlie Ike Higgins; and a host of other grandchildren, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister; four children; and his wife of 38 years, Dorothy J. Jasper. Services were Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with Masonic rites and burial in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home. Roosevelt N. Johnson Sr., 81, of Fort Wayne, died on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Lutheran Life Villages, Fort Wayne. Survivors include his son, Roosevelt (Loretta Jean) Johnson Jr. of Fort Wayne; daughters, Patricia (Anthony) Figurelli of Fort Wayne and Marla Johnson of Wilmington, Del.; six grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; aunt, Geneva Gray of Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service were 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at in the chapel at Lutheran Life Villages, 6723 South Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne, with  Chaplain Mike Wakeland officiating and burial in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Ind. Theodis Calvin Keys Sr., 70, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, 3:24 p.m., at Parkview Regional Center. Born May 21, 1943, in Frenchman Bayou, Ark.; he graduated in 1962 from Wilson Trade High School, Wilson, Ark. He held both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from University of Saint Francis. He had been an executive with the Fort Wayne CETA program and General Electric Company. In addition, he was founder and president of Keys Search Group, Inc. Surviving are his loving wife, Lois J. Neloms; pet Pomeranian, Foxy of Fort Wayne; daughter, Tracy R. Keys of Indianapolis; son, Theodis C. Keys Jr. of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Calvin J. Keys, Callaina R. Keys and Dara R. Keys; sisters, Retha Hudson of Detroit, Mich., Verla Hudson of Benton Harbor, Mich., Betty (Joe) Bryant of Waterford, Miss., Earlene (Albert, deceased) Macklin of Osceola, Ark., Deborah (Michael) Hudson-Bass of Harper Woods, Mich.; brothers, Roosevelt (Marie) Lockhart of Southfield, Mich. and Sylvester (Anita) Lockhart of Bridgeport, Mich.; two uncles, Hilton (Lola) Morris, Sr. and James T. (Rosie) Morris of Fort Wayne; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mosie Lee Hudson; brother, James E. Jones; and grandparents, Mary Morris and Ruben Morris. A Celebration of Life services were Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Body of Christ Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1902 Hanna St., Fort Wayne, with Pastor Maurice L. King Sr. officiating. Hassie M. Moore, 93, passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Lutheran Life Villages. Surviving are a sister, Irma Jean Johnson; stepchildren, Codie, Cedell and Marvell Moore, Helen Jackson and Ruby Lamb; goddaughter, Chantal Amos; along with other relatives and friends. Services were Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Shiloh Baptist Church, with burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home.

 

Joseph “Preston” Radike, 16, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, in Fort Wayne. Born in Warren, Ohio, Preston was attending Youth Life Skills/Mark Outlaw school. Preston loved music. His love for music inspired him to start playing percussion at Weisser Park in third grade and grew throughout the years. He enjoyed going to concerts with his family and friends. Preston enjoyed roller speed skating, and spending time with his friends and family. “He was a loving and caring son, brother, grandson, and friend and will be deeply missed.” Surviving are his parents, Steve Radike and Margie Zartman-Radike of Fort Wayne; brother, Parker Radike of Fort Wayne; sisters, Maya and Malia Radike, both of Fort Wayne; and grandmother, Marguerite Zartman of Payne, Ohio. He was preceded in death by grandfather, Harold “Bud” Zartman. Services were Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at Grace Point Church of the Nazarene, 8611 Mayhew Road, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Churubusco. Hattie Mae Weeks, 88, of Fort Wayne, departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013. She was born on Jan. 5, 1925, in Jackson, Miss. Surviving are her daughters, Linda Latham, Sandra Weeks, Michelle (Daryl) Powers, and Pamela Weeks; daughter-in-law, Laquetta Weeks; 27 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her son, Willie Weeks. Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 5 at Providence Baptist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Calvin Williams Sr., 78, of Fort Wayne, departed this life on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013. He was born on May 1, 1935, in West Point, Miss. Surviving are his wife, Fannie B. Williams; son, Elder Calvin (Nerissa) Williams Jr. of Anderson; daughters, Arzie Williams and Barbara Ann Williams, both of Anderson, Elaine Faye Williams of Arlington, Texas, and Dolores K. Williams of Indianapolis; stepchildren, Eugene L. (Anita) Johnson of Indianapolis, Gregory (Delores) Johnson and Geoffrey T. (Tammie) Johnson, both of Fort Wayne, and Regina (Mike) Wagstaff of Houston, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 4 at Come As You Are Community Church, with burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.
