29-year-old arrested in battery case

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 3:56 a.m., Sept. 11, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 100 block of West Wayne Street in reference to a battery in progress. Officers arrived on scene and located a male victim lying in the middle of Wayne Street. The victim was bleeding and was unresponsive.

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in serious condition. The victim’s condition was downgraded to critical condition by a physician at the hospital.

After interviewing witnesses and a potential suspect, investigators later arrested 29-year-old, Dennis T. Tyson on a preliminary charge of aggravated battery.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Assisting agencies include the City of Fort Wayne Fire Department and the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
