Saudi Temple No. 50 holds potentate's ball




FORT WAYNE—Saudi Temple No. 50, Ancient Egyptian Arab Order of the Noble and Mystic Shrine, P.H.A., Oasis of Fort Wayne, Desert of Indiana, held its annual Illustrious Potentate Ball, Nov. 14 at the Grand Wayne Center, in honor of Illustrious Potentate Noble Kenneth D. Baker.

As apart of the international Shriners organization, the local temple has dedicated itself to donating to worthy charities and to help youth throughout the community. In addition to donating tickets for children to attend the acclaimed Shrine Circus, Saudi Temple also donated more than 300 bags of school supplies young people across the city.

The annual ball is designed to honor the temple’s potentate, who heads the organization on the local level. Potentate Baker began his first one-year term in December 2008.

A Masonic organization, Saudi Temple has long record of service in the Fort Wayne area. The group meets at the St. Mary’s Lodge on Winter Street and is an affiliate of the renowned Prince Hall Freemason fraternal organization. Prince Hall Masons obtained their Warrant for Charter from the Grand Lodge of England in 1784 and formed African Lodge No. 459.
