ROANOKE-Lassus Handy Dandy Convenience Stores will be adding American-made E85 fuel to their Roanoke location just off U.S. 24 West.
E85 is a blend of 15 percent gasoline and 85 percent ethanol. The ethanol is a specially made bio-fuel that is a by-product of corn. It is a mostly renewable fuel resource.
Todd Lassus, president of Lassus Handy Dandy, said, "Many people don't realize that this fuel burns cleaner and pollutes less. And, another incentive to use E85 is the cost per gallon. Recently, customers have been saving between 20 to 60 cents a gallon."
This is the second location installation of E85 fuel by Lassus Handy Dandy. The original E85 location is at the corner of Wallen and Coldwater Roads. E85 fuel can be used in more than two million vehicles nationwide. People are advised to check owner's manual to see if their vehicle qualifies for usage. The EPA has approved new conversion kits allowing many other consumers to convert their car to a Flex Fueled Vehicle (FFV), thus enabling the use of E85 fuel.
For more information on the conversion kit, go to the Central Indiana Clean Cities Alliance website at http://www.cicca.org/newtech/ E85conversionkits.html.
