Griffin announces candidacy for Superior Court Judge

FORT WAYNE—Allen County Attorney Lewis Griffin announced his candidacy for his bid as Judge of the Allen Superior Court/Criminal Division on Feb. 8. His name will appear on the ballot for the non-partisan judicial election Nov. 2 against incumbent Kenneth R. Scheibenberger.

“I am running for judge to serve the county that I’ve come to love. I believe all leaders, whether they are judges, political, religious or civic leaders, must be a part of the community in which they serve in order to be effective,” Griffin said.

Griffin, a member of the Indiana State and Allen County Bar Associations, and The Benjamin Harrison chapter of the American Inns of Court (Master), has been in private law practice for 18 years in Allen County. His practice includes criminal law, family law and tax litigation. Griffin is also a part- time deputy public defender and accepts court appointments in child abuse and neglect cases.

Prior to graduating from Quinnipiac University School of Law in Connecticut in 1980, Griffin was a sixth grade teacher, high school counselor and a union factory worker. Following law school he worked on the corporate management staff of UTC Corporation (Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Essex), resigning in 1992 to open his law practice.

Members of Griffin’s Campaign Committee are Ian Rolland, Michael Cunegin, Alan McGee, M.D., Joshua Tourkow, Kerilyn Roby, Robert Sevier, Nate McElroy, Vicki McMillan, and Larry Wickliffe. The campaign website is under construction at www.Lewis-Griffin4Judge.com.

Griffin is active in the community as a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he serves on the Vestry, acolytes and is a Stephen Minister Candidate; the Central Lions Club; and Cornerstone Youth Center in Monroeville. He is the past president of the Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County and past national chair of the National Parent Council-NUL.

Griffin and his wife Sandra have been Allen County residents for 24 years and have two married children and four grandchildren.
