Shooting victim found on Gaywood Drive

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 11:21 p.m., Aug. 18, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4300 block of Gaywood Drive in reference to a shooting investigation.

Officers arrived on scene and located the male/adult victim two blocks away at the intersection of Senate Avenue and Southpark Drive.  The victim was alert and conscious when officers located him.  Officers observed the victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Evidence indicates the shooting occurred in the front yard of a residence in the 4300 block of Gaywood Drive.  It appears the victim walked to the intersection of Senate Avenue and Southpark Drive before being located by officers

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in serious condition.  Upon arriving at the hospital, the victim was downgraded to critical condition by a physician.
