Carol L. Young, 70, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2017, at St Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Carol worked as a school bus driver with Fort Wayne Community Schools for 15 years, until her retirement. She was a member of East Chestnut Church of Christ. Carol adored her family and her church, her husband was her world. She had a green thumb and enjoyed cooking and baking. Surviving are her daughters, Robbin (Bryant) Nunnery of New Orleans, La., April M. Young of Atlanta, Ga. and Holly Young-Reese of Fort Wayne; special son and loving care giver, David Young Jr. of Fort Wayne; son, Austin C, Young of Fort Wayne; 13 granchildren; two great-grandchildren; and childhood friend, Valentina Friar of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her bestfriend, Sue Fitts; husband, David Young Sr.; father, Robert H. Smith; and mother, Helen R. Smith. Service was Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at East Chestnut Street Church of Christ, 3601 East Chestnut St., with Minister Randy Cole Sims Sr. and David Young Jr. officiating and burial in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the East Chestnut Street Church of Christ.

Ophelia (West) Hamilton

Ophelia (West) Hamilton, 85, departed this life Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Saint Anne’s Nursing & Rehab., surrounded by family. As a native of Clarks dale, Ark., she was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She retired from Fort Wayne Community Schools after more than 30 years of service. Ophelia was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hamilton Sr. Surviving are her children, Earl Jr. (Lynnice), Arnetta Smith, Larry (Bernice) Hamilton, Edna (Kevin) Clancy, Garry (Rositta) Hamilton, Cheryl Parrish and Lisa (Clifford) Buttram, Jr.; eight siblings; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Service was Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Pilgrim Baptist Church with visitation there and at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 2421 S. Hanna St., burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home.
