Man critical after apparent one-car crash

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 7:53 a.m., Aug. 13, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2600 Block of East Capitol Avenue in reference to a single vehicle accident. Officers were initially advised that witnesses did not see anyone inside the vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers and medical personnel located an adult male driver inside the vehicle suffering from injuries, The driver was transported to a local hospital in serious condition by paramedics. Upon arrival at the hospital, the victim was downgraded to critical condition by doctors.

The Fort Wayne Police Department Crash Investigation Team was called to the scene to investigate the accident. Initial information indicates that the vehicle was traveling west on East Capitol at which time the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time

This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
