Motorcyclist found seriously injured in cemetery accident

| July 13, 2016

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 11:59 p.m., July 1, officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to an assist call at 6000 Old Trail Road in regards to an unresponsive male who was found in the Prairie Grove Cemetary.  While officers were en route, the caller told dispatch that the man was now responsive and did not want anyone to call Police.

Upon arrival, police officers located a motorcylce in close proximity to the man, who was then unresponsive.  Medics arrived on scene and transported the man adult to a local hospital in serious condition.  Once at the hospital the man was down graded to critical condition.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the man was driving south on Old Trail Road when he lost control as the roadway curved by the Prairie Grove Cemetary.  The motorcycle went through the fence, throwing the driver.  Speed, alcohol, and lighting appear to be factors in this accident.

There were no other vehicles and people involved in this incident.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
