| November 29, 2015

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 6:09 p.m., Nov. 24, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a four-vehicle traffic accident with parties injured at the intersection of Paulding Road and Hessen Cassel Road.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed east on Paulding Road  and clipped a white Cadillac from the rear that was in the turning lane on Paulding preparing to go north on Hessen Cassel Road. The pickup truck then proceeded east through the intersection on Paulding while a Toyota passenger car was traveling north on Hessen Cassel and a silver Trailblazer was traveling south on Hessen Cassel Road,  causing a multiple vehicle collision by colliding with the passing vehicles simultaneously.

The male driver of the pickup truck was found on the hood of his vehicle and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.  The male driver and female passenger of the Toyota were both taken to a local hospital in serious condition by paramedics. The driver of the Trailblazer and the Cadillac were both uninjured.

The intersection was closed to all traffic during the course of the investigation.  The Fatal Accident Crash Team was paged to the scene and took over the investigation.  Witnesses to the accident were questioned and the scene was processed.

At this time alcohol does not appear to be a contributing cause of the accident.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fatal Accident Crash Team, the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.

Assisting agencies included Three Rivers Ambulance Authority and the Fort Wayne Fire Department.
