Robert Lee “Bobby” Dixie

Robert Lee “Bobby” Dixie,54, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Fort Wayne, Bobby graduated from Elmhurst High School and earned a Leadership certificate from Cornerstone Christian Bible College. He was a faithful member of Cathedral of Praise Ministries and Church where he served as a Deacon, and in the Men’s Fellowship. Bobby was employed by Dana Spicer Axle for over 25 years and was a member of the Local United Steel Workers Union. Bobby was a car enthusiast especially Corvettes. “He was an amazing light and always willing to help others in need. His loving and outgoing personality allowed him to make friends with everyone he came into contact with. He was an exceptional husband, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.” His other hobbies were cracking jokes, renaming people, hanging out with fellas, going to family gatherings, and working out at the Y.M.C.A., but most of all spending time with his wife and grandchildren. The true light of his eyes were his grandchildren. Surviving are: his wife, Dr. Raphilla “Rae” Dixie of Fort Wayne; children, Kioshia Dixie, Shalon Fowlkes and David (Jessica) Fowlkes, all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Javant Harrison, Airyan Thomas, Nazaria Anderson, Zyon Greene, Daviona Fowlkes, Bryiel Fowlkes, Kelise Green, and Audrianna Crosby-Dixie; and siblings, Melvin Underwood, Alphonso (Terena) Stewart, Ronnie Edwards, and Jayson (Alicia) Love, Bobby Ray Vanhorn, Sharon “Mug” Johnson, and Sarah “Cookie” Stewart. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Dixie Sr.; and mother, Claudia Dixie. Service was Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at The Cathedral of Praise Ministries and Church, with Apostle Dr. Oscar J. Underwood Jr. officiating and burial in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made in his name to Riley Children’s Hospital, 702 Barnhill Drive, Room 1717, Indianapolis, IN 46202. Arrangements were by D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes.

Katie Marie Jackson, 64, departed this life on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, in Fort Wayne. Katie was born Feb. 1, 1951, in New Orleans, La. She was the daughter of the late Willie Jackson and Virginia Minor Jackson. She was baptized at an early age by the Reverend J.J. Butler at St. Mary B.C. She was employed by Fort Wayne State Developmental Center for more than 30 years and retired from Liberty Health in 2014. Surviving are: her daughters, Ruth McHaney, Melissa McHaney, Ashlee McHaney, Shannon McHaney and Amber Allen; her sons, Willie John (Zakeya) Jackson and Jordan McHaney; grandchildren, Noah Jackson, Elizabeth Jackson, Elijah Jackson, Nathanael Jackson and Callen Weisenberg, all of Fort Wayne; godson, Trey’Von Covington; sisters, Willie Mae (Edward Earl) Washington, Brenda Faye Jackson and Velma (Walter) Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Michael Jackson; two sisters, Callie Ann Jackson and John Ella Calvit; her grandparents, John and Ella Minor and Jack and Callie Jackson. A Memorial Service was held Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with bBurial in Natchez, Miss. Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements were by D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home.
