FORT WAYNE—Fort Wayne police detectives need the public’s help in identifying the suspect captured in surveillance photographs. The suspect has a unique tattoo on the right side of his neck that might help spark someone’s knowledge of whom this might be. His physical description is included the accompanying incident report.

At approximately 12:27 a.m., Sept. 13, officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department were dispatched to St. Joseph Hospital at 700 Broadway, Room 7 at the Emergency Room, in reference to a battery victim checked in at the hospital.

The victim told officers he was standing outside the Pantry Bar nears Wells and Fourth Street, smoking cigarettes with two other males. The victim reported that a white Pontiac Aztec drove up and an hispanic, possibly Mexican, male about 5’7”, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, jumped out of the vehicle with a 12 gage shotgun and walked toward the three of them. The victim said he threw up his hands and told the assailant “I’m not involved!” He said the assailant pointed the barrel of the shotgun at his chest several times.

The victim said he turned to throw his cigarette down and the assailant struck him the right eye with the barrel of the shotgun. The assailant left the area but the victim could not tell police in which direction the assailant traveled.

The victim also told police one of the men standing outside smoking with him could possibly identify the assailant.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-STOP (436-7867).
