Vontae uses his platform to encourage more foster and adoptive parents

INDIANAPOLIS—November is National Adoption Month, and All-Pro cornerback, Vontae Davis is teaming up with the Indiana Adoption Program to support youth in foster care, and encourage more adults to consider adopting.

Davis understands the challenges that many children face.  On the verge of entering the foster care system as a child, Vontae and his siblings were taken in and raised by their loving grandmother.

“I am grateful for my grandmother for the love and support she gave me,” said Davis. “I am not sure where I would have been without my family, which is one of the reasons I am so supportive of permanent families for youth in foster care. I think we all deserve a family.”

In previous years, Davis has shown his support for foster youth through his Holiday Shopping Spree Events. This year, he is adding to these efforts by collaborating with Indiana Adoption Program. He recently had a photo shoot with adopted and foster care youth, and will be lending his name and image to photos and correspondence with adoptive parents, potential adoptive parents, and youth in the foster care system.

Here are the Top 5 Reasons to Consider Adopting a Foster Child:

4. You have a heart that is as big as your home.

3. You know how important it is to be part of a family.

2. You believe every kid counts.

1. And the number one reason to consider adopting a foster child: DCS is actively recruiting adoptive families for nearly 100 foster youth.
