‘Raising the Bar of Social Progress: The history of Fort Wayne’s empowered minority community’

FORT WAYNE—From 12 noon to 1:30 p.m., Feb. 26, YWCA Northeast Indiana is scheduled to host an open discussion on the Colored Women’s Club of Fort Wayne and the advancements they have made by empowering our minority community at the organization’s Northeast Indiana office, 1610 Spy Run Ave.

This discussion will be led by Marsha E. Smiley, an active member of our Fort Wayne community, author of The History of Early Fort Wayne’s Colored Women’s Clubs, and also named one of the “50 Most Influential African American Women in Northeast Indiana” by INK Newspaper in 2009.

The presentation is part of the YWCA’s Diversity Dialogues. This and all Diversity Dialogues are free and open to the public. Free parking is available.
