The Rescue Mission to host reception for Chief Garry Hamilton

On Wednesday, January 8 at 5:00pm, The Rescue Mission will host a Fort Wayne Community reception to welcome the City’s new Police Chief, Garry Hamilton. The reception will take place at Charis House (431 Fairmount Place, Fort Wayne, IN 46808), the women and children’s ministry of The Rescue Mission.

The event will feature Mayor Tom Henry, Judge Wendy Davis, and Councilman Glynn Hines as key speakers. Representatives from Fort Wayne’s Burmese and Hispanic communities will also participate. Entertainment will be provided by the Mon Community and light refreshments will be served.

“As we celebrate the appointment of Chief Garry Hamilton, we’re reminded that Fort Wayne is a rich and diverse community. So we welcome a Chief, who is a Chief for all people,” says Rev. Donovan Coley, CEO and Senior Pastor at The Rescue Mission

Hamilton is set to be sworn in to his new position at 11:00am on Thursday, January 2, 2014.
