As always, I hope all is well with you and yours and that you’re still taking some time out of your days to bring yourselves and others some well deserved joy, beauty, happiness and some form of peace of mind. I know that I am as we spend more quality time together on our journey of love.  I would like to personally thank all of you that are helping to make our city a safer place to live.  On that note, let’s have some fun as we continue to celebrate the beauty of life for this is the month that Jesus came back to us.  And so, let’s shower this glorious occasion with balloons—yes balloons.  So at this time all we want you to do is just sit back, relax and enjoy.  Or stand and jump and shout if you want to!  You can do that because Frost Illustrated is gonna take you there and this is what the lady who can help you do this has to say:

“Hello, Frost Illustrated readers.  My name is Leondra Jackson and I was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Ind.  I’m a graduated from Cornerstone Christian College Preparatory School and I also graduated from Chosen Christian Beauty & Barber College as valedictorian in Cosmetology and now I’m a balloon decorator and the owner of Inspiring Moments.  All of my designs are designed with you in mind.  My mission, is to share your inspiring moment of smiles, joy and laughter with balloons by giving you something elegant and unique.

“Some of the events that I’ve brought beauty to includes a grand opening for Detroit’s Finest Coney Island, the foyer at Come as You Are Community Church, the storefront at Deb’s Clothing Store in Glenbrook Mall, Fort Wayne Girls Rock Empowerment Conference, AKA Iota Omega Sorority event, weddings, birthdays, baby showers, graduations, open houses, anniversaries, a Delta—type frat event and more.  I’m open for everything and I even did a stuffed balloon for my pastor and first lady.  I also design arches, centerpieces, flowers, tower balloons, people and much more.  All you have to do is tell me your theme and the colors and I’ll take it from there.

“This is how it all started:  When I was a little girl, I was one of those girls that planned my wedding and I came across a page that had balloons on it and I was like, wow, because it was beautiful and I wanted this for my wedding. So, I kept that page with me but I ended up losing it.  And, as time went by, people wanted me to plan their events and I did.  Then in 2009, someone asked me to plan an event for their mom and I was like yeah!  But, I think I really got serious in 2010 and it was like I woke up and my whole brochure was laid out in my mind and I think it was GOD and HE showed me what exactly everything was going to look like.  So I did an outline of my own brochure and took it to a graphic artist and they did my brochure along with my business cards and they did an awesome job.  After that, I started promoting myself and I’d always take pictures of my work and people are like, wow that’s awesome.  Originally, I started off blowing up the balloons myself and that was no problem for me but someone blessed me with a machine.

“Designing balloons comes naturally to me, it goes with my personal self because I love designing and I love colors and I love putting things together and coordinating them.  Just like my outfit’s are always color coordinated and the balloons play a part in that because there full of different colors and then I’m being creative.

“I got to design the display in the storefront of Deb’s Clothing Store in Glenbrook Mall because a lady from the church that I attend works there and when her manager started talking about ordering some balloons, she was like, ‘I got somebody for you.’  So she called me because I decorated our church for a Valentine’s Day event and she saw my work and was very impressed.

“I also stuff balloons and I’m able to do that because the balloons are 18 inches and comes with a plush panel.  I fill the inside up with goodies of whatever is your favorite such as body wash, lotion, candy, a mug, teddy bears or whatever you can think of that the person will like to go inside the balloon as long as the edges are not too sharp.  After that, I arrange a bed of colored shred and surround it with mini balloons and finish it off with a cellophane wrap and then I add a beautiful bow to top it off.  I also enjoy making the balloon people and they can consist of a bride and groom or whoever you’d like and I can make them short for a table or as tall as you want for the floor.  I have so much fun working with balloons and I love it all and I love watching people’s facial expressions when they see my work because it brings me intense joy and happiness.

“There are several people that I would like to thank for inspiring me and they are first, my parents, my family and friend, Dr. Oscar Underwood of Cornerstone Christian College Preparatory School, Dr. Theresa Link of Chosen Christian Beauty and Barber College and my Pastor Anthony Payton.  Dr. Underwood instilled in me the principles that I needed to be successful and every time I would go to school we always had affirmations and it’s titled, ‘Follow Your Dreams.’  Follow your dreams, take one step at a time, don’t settle for less, just continue to climb.  Follow your dreams, if you stumble don’t stop, keep your eye on your goal, press on to the top.  For only on top, can we see the whole view, can we see what we done and what we can do.  Can we then have the vision to see something new, press on and follow your dreams.  So he taught me to always to press on no matter what.  Dr. Link always told me, the only person that can stop me, is me, so if anything happened it would be my fault.  My pastors said, with GOD I’m unstoppable and that really encourage me, so no matter what, I’m unstoppable.

“To help inspire our young people to move forward in a positive direction, I’d like to say, always pray and ask GOD what it is that HE has for you because HE knows everything.  We all have passion for something and whatever it is, just stick to it and if you’re serious about it, it will come to pass.  So just hang on in there and just do little by little and you’ll get there.  But you have to be serious and you have to stay focused and don’t let nobody stop you.  And, to all of you that are planning your next party or event, you can contact me by simply calling me at (260) 310-3806 or go to my Facebook page and let’s plan it together.  Because it’s not a party until the balloons arrive.”

Now in closing I say, lovely, absolutely lovely, Leondra.  Keep up the great work and I’m so proud of you and now to our readers, we know a Balloon Decorator, Yea!!!.  So until next week, you’ve been Up Close with Jeanie.  Bye, bye babies.

P.S.  If you or someone you know are in the Arts & Entertainment Industry and would like the SPOTLIGHT shined on “You” so that we can have some more fun, joy, beauty and happiness, all in the name of love, just send me an e-mail to  I’d love to hear from ya.
