FORT WAYNE—Restoration Center Church of God in Christ is scheduled to host a benefit concert to help raise funds to finance the debut CD release of Vernida “Marie” Robinson at 6 p.m., April 19 at Dupree Memorial Church of God in Christ, 1231 Hayden St.

A member of Restoration Center COGIC, under the leadership of Pastor and Co-Pastor Michael and Anita Payton, Robinson is president of the church choir and leads praise and worship at the church. Friends and family say singing has been one of her passions all her life and that she is always ready to sing “whenever and wherever the Lord opens a door.” Robinson not only is known for her vocal gifts in her home church but also has been invited to share her song ministry at the district and state levels of the Church of God in Christ.

After many years of serving as an in-demand worship leader in song, Mrs. Robinson has recorded her first solo inspirational CD, “Restored.” Members of Restoration Center are hosting the April 19 benefit concert to help her raise to complete production on the CD. Friends and church members say it always has been a dream of Robinson’s to record a CD of praise and worship music.

“We are excited to help her make this dream come true,” said a spokesperson for the church.

“Sister Marie is anointed by God to minister in song.  She will minister in song with music or without.  She will sing wherever and whenever a door is opened,” explained Restoration Co-Pastor Anita Payton. “She praises God with all her heart. Praise from her heart goes straight to the heart of God—and ours too.
“I’m thankful that the Lord has placed her at Restoration Center for such a time as this,” continued Co-Pastor Payton. “There are many who are gifted to sing, but few that carry the anointing to destroy yokes/bondages. I encourage her to keep living and  singing for the Lord and destroy the works of darkness through anointed singing.”
