As promised, here are more photos and information from the Velvet Rope Beauty & Barber Battle and Community Exposition event (Click here to read my spotlight which appears in the April 9 edition of Frost Illustrated). To start it off was a fantastic dance group and some beautiful singing along with it as the crowd looks on.  I’m not sure what their names are but I enjoyed them.  Then the young ladies of Queens Literature and Arts Club Inc., are reciting their dynamic speech.

Next, are the photo’s of the vendors so you can have an idea what they have and who they are.  First two tables were Optimistic’s Enterprise Boutique merchandise that’s located at 3415 Warsaw St.***M&N One Stop Shop that’s located at 608 Oxford St.***Shontel Vignaude who’s a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant***Juanita Henderson owner of Chocolate, Kinks & Curls*** Jerrell owner of Jerrell’s Barber Shop and Strutables located 2104 S. Here’s Veronica Townes owner of Nu Freedom Productions and Trey Cato owner of T2KTight Promotions and  we bring to you the first place winners again which are KiKi Hood who won both 1st places in the Mohawk and Wild Out competition.  Barbers Joey Rodriquez won 1st place in Wild Out and Mark Vachon won 1st place in the Mohawk competition and both are seniors at Ravenscroft Barber College.  Also, photos with promoter Trey Cato.  And, as an extra added bonus is a photo of Dr. Theresa Link owner of Chosen Christian Beauty and Barber College and some of her second and third place winners that are going to share with you their experience and this is what they have to say.

“Hello Frost Illustrated readers.  My name is Antonnya Jackson and I’m a student at Chosen Christian Beauty and Barber College and I placed 2nd in the Mohawk competition.  I was very excited to even be able to participate because I thought that it was only for professionals.  But when I found out it was also an opportunity for people from the outside, non-professionals, to be able to participate I was very enlightened and happy.  Because I had the opportunity to be able to compete and show off my type of work and my skills.  Thank you Veronica for giving me this opportunity to participate with some of the top stylist here in Fort Wayne.  I just started beauty school and I didn’t think that I had what it took to participate.  I also want to thank Ms Moore, who was one of the host, for believing in me and giving me the information to talk to Veronica and once I did that, all doors were opened up for me.  I’m now looking forward to getting involved in each hair show and even if I win first, second, third or fourth place it’s okay, I just want to make sure that I’m recognized!”

Danielle Mason of Chosen Christian Beauty and Barber College had this to say.  Hello Frost Illustrated readers.  I’m a licensed cosmetologist and I’m Dr. Link’s Assistant and I thought this event was amazing.  This was my first time being in a hair show and I was actually a 3rd place winner in the Wild Out competition and I was happy.  Because I competed against a lot of Fort Wayne‘s best and won.  I’d like to say, thank you to Veronica and to Dr. Link for their motivation and for believing in me and thanks to all of my family members and friends that attended.  I plan on entering in other hair competitions in the future.

Jason Chapman, is a barber at Up The Top Barber Shop and was also one of the winners and he can be reached at 797-6633.

All the other photo’s are of some hair stylist anticipating being called to the ring so they can strut their creativity,  others that were pleased with their hairdo’s from their stylist, a performance from a vocalist of Last Call Super Band, 96.3 D.J. Big Kess and people simply enjoying themselves and other people, in the name of love and it’s all goooooooooood!
