Joseph Banks Jr.

Joseph “Phine” Banks Jr. was born Feb. 1, 1939,  the eldest of ten children born to Joseph Banks and Cora (Brooks) Banks in Uniontown, Ala.  He departed this life on Monday, May 5, 2014. Joe, as he was called by many, moved to Fort Wayne in 1957.  He was previously employed by Mike’s Car Wash, Reliable Cleaning and General Electric Company. He was a quiet man, caring and well read throughout his life.  He was always willing to share with others his time, finances and beautiful smile.  Joe’s lifelong mate, Lucy Bratton, preceded him in death, leaving her offspring Ricky, Cynthia, Donna, Deborah, Tommy, Terry and Troy Bratton along with other family members to be there for Joe.  Andrea Bratton provided care for Joe over the last months of his life. Joe’s hobbies included reading, studying car designs, history, sports and watching television.  Joe loved children and cared for many generations of Banks and Bratton children, they considered Uncle Joe an awesome babysitter. Joe was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Edna Mickey Shepherd, his brothers, Robert Banks, Julius Lee Banks and Horace Banks. He leaves to mourn his passing his most beloved sister and longtime caregiver, Mamie Andrews; sister, Cora (William) Dixie and brothers Lucius (Sharon) Banks, Bill (E. Sharon) Banks and James Banks along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Service was Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Ellis Funeral Home, 1021 E. Lewis St.. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home.

Clifford (C.T.) Twillie passed away at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the age of 53. Born July 25 1960, in Benoit, Miss., he lived in Greenville Miss., before settling in Fort Wayne in the mid-eighties. He worked for TGMY for many years, and in the past few years, worked at Foamax. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, walking, and watching wildlife. He also enjoyed all types of sports, but his favorites were football and basketball. Survivors include sisters, Nancy Payne, Charlie Mae (Lindell) Tiney of Fort Wayne, Georgia Twillie of Greenville, Mississippi; brothers, Clarence Twillie, Earnest (Diana) Twillie, and Roger Twillie of Fort Wayne; special friend Tammy Laws and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral service was Friday, May 2 at Ellis Funeral Home. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home.
