Walter Hendrix Sr

Walter Hendrix Sr., passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014. He was born on Sept. 7, 1929, in Bolivar, Tenn. He leaves to cherish his memory sons, Walter Hendrix Jr. and Joe Hawkins, both of Fort Wayne; daughters, Velvet Newborn and Valerie (James Sr.) Kendrick, both of Fort Wayne; sister, Savannah Powell of Fort Wayne; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral service was Saturday, June 7 at Carmichael Funeral Service, with burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.

James P. “Big Jimmy” Martin

James P. “Big Jimmy” Martin, 56, of Fort Wayne, passed Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Genesis Health Care. He worked many years at Café Johnelle and Brook’s BBQ. Memorial service was Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Imani Baptist Temple, 2920 Indiana Ave. Arrangements were by Nelson Memorial Gardens Inc.

Edward J. Williams

Edward James Williams, was born in Birmingham, Ala., on Dec. 14, 1950. He graduated from Central High School in 1970 and received an Associate of Science in Distribution and Marketing Technology from Indiana University in 1973. Edward retired from Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire after 29 year and was employed with Easter Seal Arc. He confessed his life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board, taught Sunday School, worked with the Shepard Boys Youth Group, was a Junior Achievement and Project 2000 volunteer.  He also coached girls basketball for Benoit Academy and was an assistant track coach for South Side High School for a season. On May 28, 2014 the angels smiled upon him. Edward was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Ednola Williams, brother Henry “Boo” Williams, sister Bobbi Richardson, niece, Milynn Williams, nephew, Alfred A. Woods and a host of aunts and uncles.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 33 years, Jeanette (Ambrose) Williams; children, Amber Williams of Indianapolis,Porsche’ Williams of Fort Wayne, Quantry Brown of Indianapolis, and Bryce Thomas of Jiaxing, China; granddaughters, Monique Scott, Quitera Brooks, and Taylor Moore; grandsons, Quantry Brown, Jr., Jalen Williams, and Donovan Williams; sisters, Martella Allen, Ernestine Williams of Fort Wayne, Henrietta (Alonso) Simmons of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers Kenneth (Beverly) Williams of Tallahassee, Fla., Sylvester (Cinderella) Williams of Grapevine, Texas, Watt-L Williams, Michael Williams, Donald Williams, James Barnett, Michael Jefferson, and Daryl Barnett of Fort Wayne; an aunt, Virgiia Taylor of Fort Wayne; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Funeral service was Saturday, June 7, 2014, at True Love Baptist Church, 715 E. Wallace St., with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
