Dwight T. Griffin Jr., 38, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014, at home. He worked for BF Goodrich as a forklift specialist. He leaves to cherish many memories his son, Alphonse Jaden Griffin; parents, Dwight T. and Julia Griffin Sr.; sisters, Beatrice Jasper, Yvonne Stokes, Shirley (Terry) Wright, and Sharon Tucker; brother, Duane Griffin; and a host of other relatives and friends. Service was  Friday, July 11, 2014, at Oakridge Temple COGIC, 2808 Evans St., with burial in Concordia Cemetery-Maumee Ave. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home.

Damarcus “Pnut” Gunn, 24, of Fort Wayne, passed Saturday, June 28, 2014. He was born on July 25, 1989, in Fort Wayne. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Caanan Baptist Church, 827 Fairfax Ave., with calling one hour prior. Arrangements by Nelson Memorial Gardens Inc.

Darnell Mayo

Darnell Mayo, a son of the late Robert Mayo and Magnolia Mayo-Earnest, passed away Saturday evening, July 5, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born April 17, 1937 in Pine City, Ark. He retired from General Motors Corporation in Defiance, Ohio.   Darnell was a faithful member, Deacon and Usher of Old Landmark Church of God In Christ.  Deacon Darnell leaves to cherish many memories, his wife of 47 years, Inez Amos-Mayo of Fort Wayne; children, Luther (Edna L.) Amos of Fort Wayne, Elton (Edna E.) Amos, M.D. of Carmel, Indiana, Angelique Mayo and Darnell V. Mayo, Jr. both of Fort Wayne: sisters, Catherine Goggins of Denver Colorado, Beatrice (Arthur) Woods, Vornia Williams and Mildred Dixon all of Fort Wayne; a brother, L.B. (Gloria) Barnes of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; Elton Darnell (Renita) Amos, Katrina Amos, Luther Jamar Amos, Mark Aaron Amos, Lauren Amos and Alexander Mayo and five great-grandchildren, Tylan Amos, Reniah Amos, Anthony Amos, Elton James Amos and Jayden Amos other relatives and friends. Funeral service was Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Dupree Memorial Church of God in Christ, 1231 Hayden St., with burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home, 1021 E. Lewis St.

Liana Marie Senter was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to parents Edward W. III and Mona (Macias) Senter on July 10, 1988 and was called home on July 2, 2014 at the age of 25. She is survived by her parents; Edward W. and Mona L. Senter, III;  sons: Jaccob Edwards Senter age 5 and Oliver Thomas Senter 22 months old all of Arizona; four sisters, Dwylette Sykes, Erica Rios, and Victoria Prokop all of Fort Wayne,  and Lee Senter of St. Petersburg, Florida; one brother, Edward Henry Senter of Atlanta, Georgia;  her grandfather, Ben C. Macias of Tocsin, Indiana. A host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Liana was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Owens. her grandmother, Victoria Macias and grandparents; Edward and Margaret Senter; her cousins, Ben Joseph Lopez, Charles Senter,  Bobby Gaither and De Metris Dewayne Nance. Service was Saturday, July 12 at Union Baptist Church, 2200 Smith St., with burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home.

Augustus “Gus” Smith

Augustus “Gus” Smith, 67, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014. Born Jan. 19, 1947, in Monticello, Miss., he was a son of Emmitt Smith and Leora Smith. He was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from General Motors after 34 years of dedicated service. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Gustin Karl Smith of Los Angeles, Calif., Lisa Motley of Wesson, Miss., Anthony (Vicky) Gipson of Conyers, Ga., Felicia (Timothy) Gray of Tampa, Fla., and Nena Strickland of Decatur, Ga.; siblings, Earlene (Jimmy) Warren of Fort Wayne, Emmitt (Velma) Smith of Fort Wayne, Betty (RB) Collins and Henry Smith, both of Monticello, Ms. He was preceded in death by wife, Lucrectia Annette Smith of Fort Wayne; father, Emmitt Smith; sisters, Ruby Longino and Annie Longino; and brother, Willie Charles Smith. A Celebration of Life service was Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Services.
