Desmon Heath Davis, 38, of Fort Wayne, departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014. Desmon was an outstanding athlete with football being his favorite sport. He was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed coaching the Rams football team through Metro Youth Sports. Surviving are his daughter, Liasha Cooper; two sons, Cortney Brooks and Desmon J. Davis; parents, Sammie and Linda Wright; sister, Tracy (Melvin) Cannon; special niece, Taylor Davis-Cannon; great-aunt, Lois Bright; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 18 at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1151 Francis St., with burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.

Lenell Hill, 79, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at home. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Hill; sons, Dewayne Booker and Walter Hill; step-children, Nanette Thomas and Gene Stepp; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice and Rosie Hill; a twin brother, Cornell Hill; and eight other brothers and sisters. Service was Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at Ellis Funeral Home, 1021 E. Lewis St. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home.

Geneva Delores Robinson, 73, died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, in Fort Wayne, after a long illness. Born Jan. 7, 1941, in Marion, Ark., Geneva was the youngest child of the late Sam and Mary (Sanders) Phillips. Raised in Fort Wayne, Geneva earned her diploma from Central High School in 1959. A year later, she married the late Charles T. Robinson. In addition to being a wonderful mother to three children, Geneva was a career woman rising to managerial positions at Magnavox/Raytheon. Working alongside her brother, Elijah Phillips, she owned and operated a successful reception hall for many years. Geneva was also active in the community as a longtime volunteer for the Saint Vincent de Paul Society and a devoted member of Saint Peter’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, traveling, cooking, and spending time with family. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Babb of Fort Wayne and Hattie Dickerson of Memphis, Tenn.; brother, Elijah; daughter, Terri L. Miller of Fort Wayne; sons, Dean J. and Vincent P., both of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and brothers, Anderson and Roosevelt Phillips. Service was Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 518 E. DeWald St.

Walter L. (Bobbitt) Robinson Sr., 87, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at home surrounded by his family. Born in Jackson, Miss., Walter moved to Fort Wayne in the 1050s and went to work for International Harvester from which he retired. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are his sons, Lonnie R. Robinson and Walter Roger Robinson Jr., both of Fort Wayne; daughters, Regina O. Robinson and Gloria (Clifton) Craig, both of Fort Wayne; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Olivia (Abbie) Robinson of Fort Wayne; and sisters, Louise (Leslie) Wilson of Los Angeles, Ruthie Robinson and Hattie Eley, both of Fort Wayne. Funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 2421 S. Hanna, with the Rev. Frederick A. Sleet officiating. Calling also from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at the church.

Howard Sims Sr., 76, departed life on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, in Indianapolis. Howard retired from IHC with 30 years of service. He is survived by two sons, Howard and Dwayne Sims, both of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Sam and Lewis Sims, both of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Virginia Sims of Cleveland and Mae Moore of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel T. Sims and Mabel Sims, formerly of Shelbyville, Tenn.; and one sister, Charlene Stewart. A memorial service is scheduled for noon Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Union Baptist Church.

LaRita L. Smith, 63, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014. She was born Feb. 6, 1950, in Fort Wayne. Funeral service  was Friday, Jan. 17 at Haven Missionary Christian Church, with burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.

Dolly Delores Stover, 79, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014. Surviving are her son, Emory Stover; daughter, Saundra Wyley; sisters, Thelma Stover and Pauline Douglas; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 15 at True Love Baptist Church, with burial in Concordia Cemetery. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.
