Daisy Ruth Alexander-Ivory, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Born Sept. 10, 1945, in Selma, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Leila Alexander. She gave her life to Jesus Christ at an early age at Sandridge Baptist Church in Selma. In the summer of 1973, she moved to Fort Wayne. She was a mother of four sons, Garrett Dwayne, Virgil Lee, Cedric Antonio and Christopher Devon Alexander. “Daisy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.” She was a great woman of faith and was deeply committed to the Lord Jesus Christ. She believed in worshiping God in song and praise. Homegoing service was Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Wings of Deliverance T.H.C., 2502 Fairfield Ave. Arrangements were entrusted to Carmichael Funeral Service.
Josie P. “Bay” Cole, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital. Surviving are her son, Willie Cole Jr.; and daughters, Brenda Whitsett, Sandra Hardy-Campbell and Josie Wattley. Funeral service was Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at True Love Missionary Baptist Church, 715 Wallace St., with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Mae Lue Gray was born June 11, 1927 in Jackson, Miss. At the age of 90, she passed away on July 27, 2014 at Summit City Nursing Center. She retired from Lincoln Life Insurance Company after many years of service. Mae was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She loved to go to church and loved to can foods. She leaves to cherish many memories her daughter, Gwendolyn L. Gray Williams, three grandchildren, Renita L. Gray, Earl Lamont Underwood and Cameron Gray; her favorite cousin, Jack Griggs; several great-grandchildren and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewitt Adams and Icey (Garrett) Adams, husband, Thomas E. Gray; a son Earl Edward Gray and brothers, Lawrence and Ozel Garrett. Service was Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Friendship Baptist Church, with burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home.
France Curry Payton, transitioned on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014. She leaves behind one son, Gernard (Anita) Payton; four sisters, Callie Parker, Sarah Pennimon of Compton, Calif., Estelle Crowder Turner and Mary (Nilliom) Crowley; sister-in-law, Martha Curry; and granddaughter, A’Oreal Payton. Service was Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at Pilgrim Baptist Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Carmichael Funeral Service.
Patricia Ann Rogers, 62, departed this life on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. She was born on Feb. 1, 1952, in Fort Wayne. Service was Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at The Spiritual Israel Church, 610 E. Douglas Ave. Arrangements were entrusted to Carmichael Funeral Service.
