NAACP protests passage of  Senate energy legislation

| February 26, 2014

The passing of SB 340 into legislation is an outrage and a slap in the face to Hoosiers. Our NAACP Just Energy Policies indicate Indiana was moving in the right direction, as it pertained to energy efficiency.

Great programs like Weatherization and Energizing Indiana are all a  part of Demand-side Management and help Hoosiers stay warm and lower their personal energy cost. The program will inevitably have less funds to work with and therefore help fewer citizens of Indiana.

We are a high energy use state, so to let industrials manage efficiency without even a self-direct is a shout-out to build more coal-fired power plants.

Hoosiers should contact the office of the Honorable Governor Mike Pence and ask him to stand with us in opposition to SB 340.
