Data breach at Indiana U may have exposed student SSNs

The names, addresses and Social Security numbers were those of students and recent graduates who attended from 2011 to 2014 across seven IU campuses.
About 146,000 Indiana University students and graduates may have had their personal data exposed in a security hole reported Tuesday.
The names, addresses and Social Security numbers of students and recent graduates at seven IU campuses who attended from 2011 to 2014 were stored for nearly a year on a site unprotected by security authentication, an IU news release said.
