Man arrested in death of 78-year-old woman
FORT WAYNE—On Aug. 19, detectives with the Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide Division and detectives with the Fort Wayne Police Department Gang and Violent Crimes Unit made an arrest involving a homicide investigation.
Zachary Reinders, 23, of Fort Wayne, Indiana was arrested without incident. His arrest is in connection with the homicide that occurred on Aug. 8 5700 block of Le Steele Boulevard. Diane Woods, 78, was found dead in her home of blunt force trauma to the head, in an apparent homicide. Reinders has been charged with murder, felony murder, and robbery in connection with the crime.
He is currently being held without bond at the Allen County Jail.
His arrest remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Public assistance sought in identifying person of interest in felony investigation

The individual is a person of interest in a felony investigation. It was reported that the male has an injury quite possibly a burn on his left arm that might help in identifying him.

Man allegedly armed with assault rifle arrested after barricade incident
FORT WAYNE—At approximately 1:24 a.m., Aug. 21, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 8400 block of Lakeside Drive to investigate a reported domestic battery. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a female victim wishing to report a
The initial investigation indicated the female victim and Tracey Salter , 21,were involved in a domestic disturbance somewhere on Oneida Street earlier in the evening.
After this altercation took place, an additional female transported Salter to the apartment on Lakeside Drive. The original female victim showed up a short time after and flagged down apartment security, asking them to contact police.
While speaking with the victim, it was determined that speaking with Salter regarding the initial domestic disturbance was necessary, and Salter’s active warrant was also discovered. Additionally, police received information that Salter was inside the apartment and was armed with an assault rifle of some type.
Officers tried unsuccessfully to contact Salters and subsequently used the Emergency Services Team and Crisis Response Team to get him out of the apartment.
After additional attempts to contact Salter were unsuccessful, the Emergency Services
Team breached the apartment door using an explosive device and began to hail with a loudspeaker. He eventually surrendered peacefully and was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant for Contempt of Court on on an outstanding warrant for attempted robbery charge.
An assault rifle was recovered from the scene.
Salter is currently being interviewed by detectives. There may be additional charges pending the outcome of the interview.
Several surrounding apartments were evacuated during the incident for the safety of the residents. The Hanna Street entrance to the apartment complex was closed for the duration of the incident.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
