Infant found critically injured

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 12:40 p.m., Jan. 10, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to an EMS assist involving an unconscious infant at an apartment in the 2100 block of Cherri Court.

On arrival along with medics and fire personnel a 22-day old infant was found to be in serious condition and was immediately transported from the scene to a local hospital where its condition remained serious.

Due to the age and medical condition the FWPD homicide team was activated to investigate this incident per our department’s protocol.

This investigation is being handled by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s office and the Allen County Prosecutor’s office.

 

Arrests made for synthetic drug dealing

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 1:50 p.m., Jan. 16, the Fort Wayne Police Department Vice/Narcotics Division and FWPD Emergency Services Team served a drug- related search warrant at 946 Burgess St. after a months-long investigation involving the sale of synthetic drugs and prompted by several community-provided drug tips.

Detectives found synthetic drug product and paraphernalia associated with the sales and use of synthetic drugs in the house, along with a firearm.

Police arrested:

• Andrew Szabo, 27, on charges of corrupt business influence, maintaining a common nuisance and three counts of neglect of a dependent;

• Joseph Szabo, 34, on charges of dealing synthetic drugs within 500 feet of a park, corrupt business influence and maintain a common nuisance,

• Derrick Banks, 36, on charges of corrupt business influence and visiting a common nuisance.

Four minor children, including three belonging to Andrew Szablo, were removed from the house with the assistance of the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) investigators.

 

Woman busted on meth-related charges

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 10 a.m., Jan. 17, officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Emergency Services Team and detectives of the Fort Wayne Police Department Vice & Narcotics Division served a search warrant at 712 Putnam Street, resulting in the arrest of a woman. One adult female was arrested.

Michelle Lynn Felts, 31, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamines, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.
