FWPD resumes downtown beat patrols

FORT WAYNE—On April 7, the Fort Wayne Police Department resumed the Monday through Friday two officer downtown beat patrol.

Officers assigned the detail will utilize bikes, T3s, and ATVs as well foot patrols to canvass an area that is bounded by Clay Street to the east, Broadway to the west, Superior to the north, the railroad tracks to the south, Headwaters Park, Lawton Park and the Greenway that surrounds the downtown area.

The officers will patrol from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the ability to adjust their patrol coverage based on need. The detail will conclude at the end of September.
