Man critical after Main Street motorcycle accident

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 3:55 a.m., April 18, Fort Wayne Police responded to the report of a single vehicle accident involving a motorcycle in the intersection of Main Street and Watkins Street. On arrival, officers found an unresponsive adult male down in the middle of the street near his Harley Davidson motorcycle. The male was transported to a local hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.

Investigators have determined that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Main Street and for an unknown reason traveled left of center struck a parked van flipped ejecting the male. At this time, It is not known if alcohol and or drugs played a role in this accident.


Gang unit arrests shooting suspect

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 4:46 p.m., April 19, the Fort Wayne Gang and Violent Crimes Unit arrested Demanuel Tompkins for his warrants in reference to the March 30, 2014 shooting inside of Peanuts Food and Spirits.  Detectives received tips from the community regarding Tompkins’ location and were able to locate him there.  He was taken into custody without further incident.

Thompson was held on counts of felony battery and criminal gang activity.

Fort Wayne stabbing victim found in Ohio

FORT WAYNE—After a recent report a possible stabbing in the city, Fort Wayne police initiated a search for the victim. The subject of the search, Zaida Townsend, subsequently was located in Piqua, Ohio suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was admitted to an Ohio hospital in serious but stable condition.

An investigation revealed that Ms. Townsend had been taken from her residence here in Fort Wayne by her estranged husband, Tommy O. Townsend Sr., 45 ,and dropped off at a relative’s home in Piqua. Shortly thereafter Mr. Townsend attempted suicide by crashing his vehicle into a parked car. Townsend survived the crash and has been placed under arrest by authorities in Ohio for OWI.

Fort Wayne police detectives have requested an arrest warrant charging Townsend with several crimes committed in our jurisdiction.

Man arrested on drug charges

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 1:12 p.m., April 22, the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Vice/Narcotics Division and Emergency Services Team served a drug-related search warrant at 1937 Andreas Way, resulting in the seizure of two firearms, cocaine and paraphernalia.

As part of this several-month ongoing investigation, Richard Eric Jordan, 47, of 3003 Monroe St., was located and arrested on a variety of charges, including:

• Five counts of dealing cocaine;
• Possession of cocaine;
• Possession of heroin, and
• Possession of paraphernalia.

Jordan was held on $255,000 bond.

Two women injured in moped accident

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 11:04 p.m., April 23, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a personal injury accident at the intersection of West Jefferson Street and Getz Road. As officers and paramedics arrived on the scene, they located two female victims. Paramedics provided medical attention to the victims before transporting them to a local hospital, where one was listed in critical condition while the other was listed in serious condition.

Investigators determined that the two victims were riding together on a moped southbound on Getz Road. As the moped entered the intersection at Jefferson, it ran a red light and was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Jefferson.

Neither of the victims were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. It is not believed that alcohol is a factor in the incident.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department F.A.C.T team and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.

Three arrested on drug charges

FORT WAYNE—On April 24,  officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department Emergency Services Team, in conjunction with the Meth Suppression Team, served a search warrant in an apartment in the 900 Block of West Jefferson.  During the course of the investigation, the following individuals were arrested on the accompanying charges:

• Ryan Johnson—Felony possession of a controlled substance; felony possession of a precursor; felony maintaining a common nuisance, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
• Megan Ewell—Visiting a common nuisance, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.(
• David Scarberry—Felony maintaining a common nuisance; felony possession of paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of synthetic cannabinoid.

Man arrested on meth-related charges

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 9:55 a.m., April 25, officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Emergency Services Team, along with the Meth Suppression Unit ,served a search warrant in the 300 block of Brandriff Street.  Ashley J. Todd subsequently was arrested at the scene on the following charges:

• Felony maintaining a common nuisance;
• Felony possession of methamphetamine;
• Felony possession of precursor, and
• Misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
