American Heart Month continues in Fort Wayne with help from Cinda b
FORT WAYNE—The American Heart Association is scheduled to host its third Annual “Pinot & Prevention” Party from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Feb. 20 at McMillen Center for Health Education to raise awareness of heart disease in women. “Cardiovascular disease continues to be the number one killer of women in Fort Wayne and the entire country,” said Cinda Boomershine, founder and chief creative officer of Cinda b and event sponsor.
“The Go Red For Women movement is so critical in raising awareness and funds for lifesaving research and education programs in our communities and I am so excited to work with such a dynamic group of women in making this year’s campaign a success.”
The Go Red For Women event will inform, inspire and entertain, as guests will be treated to a mix of fun, wine tasting, food, and a dark chocolate fountain with fruit. There will be five special rooms to visit at the health center to sample great educational information. Cinda b will also display its new summer patterns for handbags, totes and sports gear. The Pinot & Prevention Party will showcase the spirit of the Go Red For Women movement in Fort Wayne by providing critical heart health educational resources and touching stories from local residents who have faced the devastating impact of heart disease personally or on their loved ones. Only one in five American women believe that heart disease is her greatest health threat. This unfortunate reality has a lot to do with why the statistics on women and heart disease are so unsettling:
- One out of three women dies from heart disease.
- Nearly 460,000 women every year die from heart disease, this is about one woman per minute
- Every year since 1984 more women than men have died of cardiovascular diseases.
- 43 million American women are currently living with Cardiovascular disease
- Cardiovascular disease kills more women than the next 4 leading causes of death including all cancers
Since 2004, Go Red For Women has raised awareness and critical funds for lifesaving research and educational programs in the fight against heart disease in women. Heart disease causes 1 in 3 deaths among American women each year.
Tickets for the event are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and open only to those ages 21 and over. They can be purchased at www.fortwaynegored.org For more information, call 260 402-7271.
