Cinema Center to host Oscars’ Greatest Hits

FORT WAYNE—The Cinema Center, 437 E. Berry St., once again is scheduled to host an Oscars’ Greatest Hits annual Oscar party, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Feb. 28. This year, the theme of the party is Oscars’ Greatest Hits and is meant to be celebration of the greatest moments in Oscar history. Various items, including film memorabilia, will be available for silent auction at the event. In addition to the silent auction, guests will be able to take photos on the red carpet, vote for Oscar favorites, test their Oscar trivia, and enter to win “Best Dressed.” The evening will culminate in a “Mystery Screening” of a high-grossing, Oscar-winning film at 9:15 p.m.

Unlike previous years, this year the film will not be announced until showtime. However, it can be described as a wildly popular Oscar winner and for many, it will be their first chance to see it on the big screen.

The party will be held in Cinema Center’s Spectator Lounge.

“This year is going to be special,” said Jonah Crismore, Cinema Center executive director. “Not only do we have the excitement of a mystery screening, we’ve also got a theme that allows us to celebrate all aspects of the Academy Awards. We’ll have wonderful food, Oscar trivia and other fun surprises for our guests. It’s the best Oscar party in town.”

Proceeds from Oscars’ Greatest Hits will benefit Fort Wayne Cinema Center, a not-for-profit cultural organization dedicated to bringing the best in film to northeast Indiana.

Event sponsors include DeBrand’s and All Occasion Party Rentals. Organization sponsors include Arts United, the Foellinger Foundation, the Indiana Arts Commission and Lincoln Financial Group.

The cost for the evening is $25 in advance or $30 at the door; student tickets are available for $10. The ticket price includes admission to the party and silent auction, hors d’oeuvres and cash bar by Main Street Bistro and Martini Bar, and the “Mystery Screening” at 9:15 p.m. Tickets are available at or by calling (260) 426-3456. Tickets can also be purchased at the Cinema Center box office during regular showtimes.
