UP CLOSE WITH JEANIE by Jeanie Summerville

Whatz up, babies?

As usual, I hope everything is going well with you and yours as we travel on our journey of love to get to know one another better and believe it or not, this July will be our second year—yahoo! I’m excited and I’m also excited about bringing you another Beauty Page so you will know some of the people in the beauty industry who want to make you gorgeous and well dressed so that you can shine. On that note, I’m headed to this week’s spotlight to shine on them and what they’re doing. So just sit back, relax and enjoy. Or stand and jump and shout if you want to! You can do that because Frost Illustrated is gonna take you there.

I’m entering into the parking lot now and I notice that their doors are open wide so that the people can see a large variety of what they have to offer as they drive by. As I enter into the building I see some of everything and as I wait for them to complete a sale I’m checking out how they’re treating their customers and it’s all good. So, now I decide to take myself on a tour and this is some of the things I see: washers and dryers; refrigerators; mattress sets; bedroom outfits; televisions; stereos; DVD and CD players; furniture; plates; books; puzzles and much, much, more. Okay they’re done now so I bring to you the husband and wife team of this establishment and this is what they had to say:

“Hello, Frost Illustrated readers. Our names are Tony and Diane Starks and we’re the owners of T’s Flea Market and Used Furniture and Other Neat Stuff which is located at 500 Coombs St., (across from River City) in Fort Wayne. We’ve been open since February of 2012 and our store hours are Mondays through Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and our phone number is (260) 447-1066. We got into the flea market business because we also have a moving service for residential and commercial customers. And, during these moves there are always things left over because the items they didn’t take with them they gave to us and so we would have a weekly yard sale at our house every Saturday. So now we have a building and we don’t have to do that anymore and we’re very happy about that.

“We’re also happy to have this type of business because we love the one on one, face to face, with our customers and potential customers. We have a lot of faithful repeat customers that don’t want the secret to get out that we’re here because they want to have us to themselves but now with this spotlight the secret is out. Our flea market has some of everything and we have a slogan that says ‘A thousand items under a dollar.’ Along with the used furniture, we have new furniture as well from our distributor such as new living room and dining room furniture, new bunk beds and mattress sets.

“We also have a division for party rental so we rent tables, tents, chairs, moon walks, snow cone, cotton candy and popcorn machines for all types of events such as family reunions, picnics, graduations and you name it.”

But, while they’re sharing this information with me I notice someone riding around the parking lot having fun on some type of vehicle, so with me being me, I had to ask what it that and is it also for sale? This is what was said:

“We also sell things on consignment and this is an ATV that a customer brought over because we have a good volume of traffic and it looks like it‘s going to be sold today. So, if someone would like to bring something here to sell on consignment, what you need to do is, contact or visit us and we’ll go over the terms and conditions with a 30-day consignment and if it sells then we retain 25 percent of the sale price and if it doesn’t sell within that time frame then there’s a $10 fee and you can bring over just about anything.

“With us being in business, we’re able to give some people jobs and we like that. Here at the flea market we have two employees and with the moving company we have about five and we all enjoy what we do. We also enjoy being in this neighborhood because they have really wrapped their arms around us and it’s truly a blessing, it really is. So come on out and see what we have because I know that a lot of people like flea markets and even though we do have our prices set, we do bargain price things so just come and we’ll talk about it. Plus, we offer a customer loyalty card and with each visit, if you spend ten dollars, you’ll get a punch on that card and once you get ten punches you get 10 free dollars to use in the flea market and we hope to see you soon.”

So now in closing I say, thank you Diane and Tony for bringing us another place where we can shop and don’t have to spend a whole lot of money to get what we want. So until next week, you’ve been Up Close with Jeanie. Bye bye, babies.

P.S. If you would like the spotlight shined upon you or someone that you know, all in the name of love, just send me an e-mail to upclosewithjeanie@yahoo.com. I’d love to hear from ya.
