Police K9 dog graduates announced

FORT WAYNE—On Sept. 13, the Fort Wayne Police Department commissioned four police K9 dogs during a graduation ceremony at the Public Safety Academy, 7602 Patriot Crossing.

The dogs will be put into service with the Fort Wayne Police Department, one with the New Haven Police Department and one with the Bryan, Ohio Police Department.

The officer/K9 pairings are as follows:

Fort Wayne Police Department:

Officer John Drummer and K9 Jax (German Shepherd)

• Officer Ron Coffelt and K9 Django (German Shepherd)

New Haven Police Department:

Officer John Wenzel and K9 Henry (German Shepherd)

Brian Police Department:

Officer Cory Nichols  and K9 Sage (Belgium Malinios)

Each officer and his K9 partner successfully completed a 14-week academy classifying them as patrol and narcotic certified.
