Pedestrian struck near Bishop Luers High School

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 10:25 a.m., Sept. 11, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the report of a pedestrian being struck at the intersection of Lafayette Street and Paulding Road, near Bishop Luers High School.

On arrival officers found an adult male down in the intersection being attended by a passerby. The male was transported from the scene to a local hospital where his condition was determined to be critical.

Witnesses told investigators that the male was attempting to cross from the northeast corner of Lafayette at Paulding to the northwest corner of Lafayette and Paulding when he was struck by a vehicle traveling in the southbound lanes of Lafayette. Alcohol and or drugs are not believed to be a factor in this accident.

This accident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department.
