Obituaries: Sept. 18 edition

Chester B. Allen, 90, passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 at Parkview Hospital. Born in Pittsburg, Texas, he moved to Fort Wayne in 1943. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and a long time active member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. He retired from Freuhauf Trailer Co. after 37 years of service and was currently employed by Indiana Auto Auction. Surviving are his children, John S. (Thelma Russell) Dixie, Carolyn (Richard) Bryant of Las Vegas, Nev., Phillip Clancy, Estella (Robert) Paschall, and Kevin (Edna) Clancy; sister, Zelma (Charles) Davis of Leesburg, Texas; brother, Roy L. Allen; special cousin, Rosemary Mosley; along with a host of grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Services were Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at Pilgrim Baptist Church, with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home.

 

Ramona Ford, 78, departed this life on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013. She was previously employed at the VA Hospital, Fort Wayne State Develop mental Center and St. Joseph Hospital. In 1994, she retired from Catherine’s Women Fashions. She is survived by her four sons, Curtis (Zena) Thompson, Dennis Tate, Rodney (Anissa) Tate, and Robert Ford Jr.; four daughters, Rita (Rev. Aston) Chambers, Amalva (Percy) Key, Regina (Gene) Myatt, and Felita Tate; three sisters, Sarah Mudd, Bettie Coleman and Martha G. Clancy; one aunt, Litha Taylor; 37 grandchildren; 50 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Robert Ford; two brothers, Hezekiah Reed and Isaiah Reed; three sisters, Frankie Lee Harris, May C. Beachem and Mary Julia Brooks. Services were Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, with burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home. View entire obituary at www.ellisfh.com.

 

Phillip Ray Hogan, 77, departed on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013. He was born on Feb. 2, 1936, in Scottsville, Ky. Services were Saturday, Sept. 14 at Cathedral of Praise Ministries, with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.
