Garfield Bryant Jr., 85, of South Bend, departed this life on Friday, April 5, 2013. He was born on April 13, 1927, in Gifford, S.C. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was employed by Hager man Construction. Surviving are his sons, Stevie D. Bryant of Las Vegas, Nev., Stanley E. Bryant and Kenneth (Geraldine) Coker, both of Fort Wayne; mother, Willa M. Bryant; two brothers, James Arthur (Doris) Bryant of Chester, Pa. and Robert Lee Bryant of Fort Wayne; two grandsons, Troy and DaMon Bryant; five great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garfield Bryant Sr. and Pearl Bryant. Services were private. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.

 

Eileen Ervin, 86, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at home. She was born on Dec. 14, 1926, in Fort Wayne. Surviving are her sister, Frances M. Counts; a niece as a daughter, Anita Porter; grandchildren, Mia Kelsaw and Kevon Porter; three great-grandchild ren; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ervin. Services were Monday, April 8, 2013, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials to Heartland Hospice or Aging & In-Home Services. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home.

 

Elijah Freeman, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. He was born on Jan. 12, 1996. Surviving are parents, Askia Woods and Sherry Freeman; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services were Friday, April 12 at Carmichael Funeral Service, with burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.
