Demetrius Lamar Masterson departed on Nov. 24, 2013. Services were Tuesday, Dece. 3, 2013 at Haven Missionary Church with calling burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.

 

Willie James Hunter, 78, of Fort Wayne, passed on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013. He was born Nov. 12, 1935, in Chattanooga, Ten. Willie was employed by the Performing Arts Center and retired after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Millie Hunter; sons, Willie Hunter Jr., Charles Hunter, Tracy (Ardian) Hunter, Anthony Hunter and Jeffery Hunter all of Chattanooga and Andre Hunter of Douglasville, Ga.; daughters, Reba Hunter, Deidria (Larry) Hunter-Hardy and Kathy Taylor all of Chattanooga and Deborah (Elroy) Freeman of St. Marys, Ga.; brother, Johnnie Lee (Viola) Mitchell of Dorcena, Ala; sister-in-law, Mary Hunter of Fort Wayne; special cousin, James L. (Rosezenia) Gibson of Detroit; 31 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Willie was preceded in death by parents, Samuel and Willie Ann Hunter Sr.; brothers, Alf Hunter, the Rev. Samuel Hunter Jr., Abraham Hunter; sister, Mordie Morris and sister-in-law, Evelyn M. Hunter. Funeral service was Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at Mount Olive Baptist Church, with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.

 

Ms. Saunda E. Campbell, 86, of Muncie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013. She was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Muncie, Ind., to the union of Samuel and Alene Davis. She confessed Christ at an early age. Saunda was employed by Delaware County as a sheriff deputy and retired after many years of dedicated service. She was the first female African American to be deputized by Delaware County. She served on the UEA Board and Republican Precinct Committee. She also started a drill team that traveled to different cities. Saunda loved spending time with her family and enjoyed sitting on her front porch. She was an avid softball player and fisherman. Surviving are her son, Talford (Carmelita) Campbell of Muncie; daughters, Alaita Henderson of Anderson and Harriot “Micki” (Frankie) Thomas of Muncie; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Saunda was preceded in death by her daughter, Traceyna Wilkins; parents, Samuel and Alene Davis and two great-grandchildren. Funeral service was Friday, Dec. 6, 2012 at Church of the Living God, with visitation burial in Beech Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.

 

Virginia Johnson, 52, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013. Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2200 Covington Road. In lieu or flowers, donations to the funeral home. Arrangements by Midwest Funeral Home & Cremation Society.

 

Sylvester Reese Jr., 73, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Glen brook Nursing Home. Surviving are his sons, Todd and Sylvester III; brothers, AC Reese, Dennis and Ted Jones; sisters, Maxine Malloy, June Martin, Carlotta Jones and Francine Jones; and four grandchildren. Service was noon Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Ellis Funeral Home, with burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Send condolences at www.ellisfh.com. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home.
