Obituaries: Aug. 28 edition

Annie Mae (Church) Actkins, 73, of Fort Wayne, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013. She was a daughter of the late Johnny Church and Laura (Wimes) Church. Annie leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters, Etta Carter and Louella Burroughs; stepson, Henderson (Rhoda) Marshall; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 17 at Greater Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, 2111 Edsall Ave., with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Midwest Funeral Home.

 

John P. Craighead Sr., 82, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013. He was born on May 14, 1931, in Fieldale, Va. He was employed by GE for 35 years, retiring in 1990. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Cora Craighead; sons, John Jr., Michael, William and Paul Craighead, all of Fort Wayne; daughters, Toni Winston of Fort Wayne and Carolyn Craighead of Indianapolis; five brothers; four sisters; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 24 at Carmichael Funeral Service with burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.

 

Shirley Ann Graham, 64, of Fort Wayne, passed on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013. She was born Jan. 14, 1949. Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 23 at Community Baptist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Carmichael Funeral Service.

 

Mildred L. (Dobynes) King, 68, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at home. Surviving are her children, Lisa, Chris (Dawn), Ricardo, Antonio (Anne), Millie Ann, and Maryann King, all of Fort Wayne; sisters, Jannie Sanders of Alabama and Lue Moore of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Lovie Dobynes; husband, Robert Randy King; and sons, Peter and Patrick King. Funeral services were, Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at True Love Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Arrangements were by Midwest Funeral Home.

 

Charlotte A. Minniefield-Dubose, was picked as a rose for the Garden on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, in Covington, Ga. Born Nov. 17, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Paul G. and Bessie Minniefield. She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Karen Dubose of Covington and Michael Dubose of Alapaha, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Minniefield Jr. and Stevan Minniefield, both of Fort Wayne; one aunt, Lucille Hill of Fort Wayne; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was also preceded in death by one son, Stanley A. Minniefield. Services were Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Arrangements were by Nelson Memorial Gardens.
