Man in underwear found outside suffering critical burns

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 2:45 p.m., Nov. 14, Fort Wayne Police responded to the 3500 block of Winter Street on the report of a male subject down. Once on scene officers located a male subject dressed only in his underwear smelling of gasoline suffering from serious burn injuries to his body. Medics transported the male to a local hospital where he was determined to be in critical condition.

Officers, with the assistance of witnesses, were able to retrace the male’s path back to an address in the 3500 block of Lillie Street where officers found a pile of burning clothes believed to be those of the male victim. An area stretching from the 3500 block of Winter Street to the a home in the 3500 block of Lillie street were cordoned off and processed by Crime Scene officers.

Investigators are asking anyone that might have observed any unusual activity in the area of the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-STOP or the police nonemergency line (260) 427-1222 to report their observations.

This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, The Fort Wayne Fire Department and the Allen County Prosecutors office.
