Man found shot to death near downtown Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 11:37 p.m., May 28, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1300 block of Huron Street on a report of a male shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male, later identified as 32-year-old Ryann K. Trejo, lying in a front yard, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers began CPR on Trejo until relieved by Fort Wayne Fire Department and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority personnel. Medics transported Trejo to a local hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Information available at this time indicates the victim exited a home for an unknown reason, and was fired upon once he got outside. It is unknown at this time if the assailant was lying in wait, or what exactly transpired.

There are currently no suspect or vehicle descriptions, and no one is currently in custody. Possible witnesses were transported to the police station for questioning and other witnesses were interviewed on scene. Detectives and crime scene personnel continued to search the area, identifying and processing evidence and seeking out any other witnesses.

The incident remains under investigation with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Officer.

Assisting agencies include the Fort Wayne Fire Department and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
