In a Nutshell is a new feature which will brief readers on current entertainment news and happenings minus the pretense and long explanations.
Miley Cyrus is getting ratchet once again in Mike WiLL Made It’s new video for “23” featuring Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa. The audio of “23” was released in August and displayed Miley’s rap skills. In the new video, Miley wears a sexy Michael Jordan basketball jersey outfit and can also be seen with her infamous foam finger in the music video singing: “I’m in the club, high off purp with some shades on/ Tatted up, miniskirt and my J’s on.” On another note, am I the only person who just found out that Mike WiLL and Miley are dating? The two have been seen hugged up outside of her trailer after her performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in photos and also had a steamy photo shoot with fashion photographer, Terry Richardson. I must admit, this sounds like a rebound relationship for Miley, who is said to have just split from handsome fiancee Liam Hemsworth. This also sounds like an opportunity for publicity and crossover appeal for newcomer, Mike WiLL. But moving right along…
Terrence J celebrated the release of his new book, “The Wealth of My Mother’s Wisdom” this past weekend by taking 100 single moms and their children to Disneyland. Among the single moms was his mother, Lisa Gonzalez and Lauren London. On Instagram, Terrence revealed that “when [he] was dead broke and had [his] first audition in LA ten years ago, [Lauren London] let him sleep on her floor.” He continued to call Lauren one of the realest people that he knows and went on to say that she’s like a sister to him. Besides that sweet moment, perhaps the sweetest were the photos that he posted with his gorgeous mother who was the inspiration behind the book. “The Wealth of My Mother’s Wisdom” drops October 1st.
Teyana Taylor and Rihanna have officially began beefing. After Teyana posted a black and white video singing Anita Baker’s “Rapture” onto her Instagram, Rihanna posted a video of her hairstylist, Yusef singing the same song in a black and white video with a long curly wig seemingly mocking Teyana with the caption: “B****es be like.” Teyana immediately caught wind of this shade and took to her Twitter to call out badgalriri. Teyana sent out a series of tweets calling Rihanna out, saying: “I sing caught in the rapture on IG then she posts her boy singing the same song, the same part, with curly hair and a snap back??? #PETTY.” Tey continued to vent, tweeting: “Don’t play with me @rihanna f**k all this industry s**t, you and I know each other very well. Throwing subs for what? You got my #, don’t show off. Y’all could bully everybody else and get away with that s**t but that s**t ain’t gone work over here. So y’all could miss me with that navy s**t.” While Rihanna’s best friend, Melissa Forde stepped in and went back and forth with Teyana, Rihanna proved to once again master the art of shade by simply tweeting “I hate broke b*****s.”
Dwyane Wade recently appeared on NBC’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno and shared some personal details about his relationship with actress Gabrielle Union. Dwyane shared: “I’m going to tell you something personal. Celebrity relationships are very hard. This was a big year for us in our relationship from the standpoint of she was shooting her show Being Mary Jane… I was dealing with my injuries, trying to win a championship. We kind of took a step back. We supported each other, but we took a step back for a while. At the end of the day, we came back together and said, ‘Listen, we want to continue this. We want to try to continue to get better each day.’ She’s been with me and I’ve been with her all summer long. We’re going strong now.” Who would’ve known after seeing their adorable photos on Instagram? It is admirable to see real people experience real love and undergo real issues. Good luck to the beautiful couple!
Gucci Mane has made The Forward Times Entertainment page weekly for his erratic behavior and he has recently apologized from jail. Perhaps feeling the spirit on Sunday afternoon, Gucci Mane re-activated his Twitter account and apologized for his crazy Twitter rant. He was recently arrested for possession of marijuana and a gun. Gucci tweeted: “Woke up the other day out this hospital bed and I’m so embarrassed and ashamed of my behavior that was brought to my attention. I just wanna man up right now and take this time to apologize to my family, friends, the industry and most of all my fans. I’m sorry. I’ve been drinking lean for ten plus years and I must admit it has destroyed me. I wanna be the first rapper to admit I’m addicted to lean and that s**t ain’t no joke. I can barely remember all the things I’ve done and said. However there’s no excuse. I’m currently incarcerated but I will be going to rehab because I need help. I wanna thank everyone that has stood by me during this difficult time. Please keep me in your prayers.” He even took the time to single out a few of those whom he blasted saying: “I wanna personally apologize to Birdman, Ross and Drake. Them my n*ggas. I 100% regret my words and actions. Keyshia Dior Kaoir I’m sorry. Please forgive me.” Good for you, Gucci, although, it’s strange that he didn’t personally apologize to Nicki Minaj, who got the brunt of his rant.
Nicki Minaj exemplified girl power by coming in at No.4 overall on the Forbes list of the top-earning artists and moguls in hip-hop this week. Diddy took the No.1 spot, while Jay Z and Dr. Dre followed in No.2 and No.3 spots respectively. The list has made Nicki the top-earning female on the list. The fifth through tenth spots were taken by Birdman, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Ludacris, and Pitbull. Nicki is the only woman on the full list of the top 20. In 2010, Nicki spoke about competition between female rappers, saying: “People think that I’m the hated female rapper, but a lot of the girls have shown me a lot of love, and behind the scenes have said, ‘Congratulations, keep up the good work.’ Can’t we all just get along? There are many female rappers that I get along with. There have been so many female rappers that have congratulated me and given me genuine love, from Trina, who is my darling, to Missy Elliott to Queen Latifah to Foxy Brown to Remy Ma. It goes on and on, and that’s what people don’t understand.”
