Toddler killed in driveway accident

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 6:47 p.m., Oct. 26, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4100 block of Hiawatha Boulevard on a report of an injury accident. Upon arrival, officers located a male toddler appearing to be in critical condition.

The initial investigation has revealed that family members were rearranging vehicles parked in the driveway of the home. While moving an SUV, the toddler, who was outside, was struck by the SUV and pinned underneath. Fire and Medic personnel were able to free the toddler and determined he was in critical condition and took him to a hospital, where he later was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

At this time it does not appear alcohol played a factor. There were no other injuries or vehicles involved. Investigators remain on scene processing the scene and taking measurements. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department.

Assisting agencies included the City of Fort Wayne Fire Department and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.

 

Man arrested for dealing cocaine

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 1:03 p.m., Oct. 11, the Fort Wayne Police Department Vice/Narcotics Division served a drug-related search warrant at 2516 S. Lafayette St. at the conclusion of a long-term investigation involving drug dealing and firearms.

Detectives arrested the principal suspect, 31-year-old Edward Williams, nearby prior to the execution of the search warrant for a variety of charges. Williams subsequently was charged with five counts of dealing cocaine and two counts of a serious violent felon in possession of a firearm.

Williams’ bond was set at $272,500.

 

Man with warrant flees officers, crashes into house

FORT WAYNE—At approximately 11:19 a.m., Oct. 10, the Fort Wayne Police Department Vice/Narcotics Division detectives were conducting surveillance in the city’s southeast quadrant when they spotted 42-year-old Frank Lloyd, a previous drug-dealing suspect who had an active arrest warrant.

When uniform detectives attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Lloyd reportedly fled in a vehicle pursuit that ended in his crashing into a house at Alexander and Pontiac streets.

Lloyd was interviewed by police officials and charged with intimidation, resisting law enforcement/fleeing in a vehicle and criminal recklessness with a vehicle.

 

Pro Bowl burglars sought

FORT WAYNE—The Fort Wayne Police Department is seeking information on a burglary that took place approximately between 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., Oct. 3 at Pro Bowl West, 1455 Goshen Road. Two males entered the business by breaking into the southeast door and once inside they were seen behind the counter where they ripped out a safe and could be seen leaving with same.
