Canaan Baptist to install Rowland as pastor Oct. 20

FORT WAYNE—Canaan Baptist Church, 827 E. Fairfax Ave., is scheduled to install Pastor-Elect Gregory W. Rowland Sr. as pastor during a 4 p.m. service, Oct. 20, with Pastor Michael Latham of Renaissance Missionary Baptist Church performing the installation and speaking.

Pastor Rowland is a graduate of South Side High School and graduate of Indiana Tech University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in leadership organization. A former vice president of the Fort Wayne Branch of the NAACP, he also has served in a number of posts at Renaissance Baptist Church including Sunday School Director and teacher, Vacation Bible School and Youth director among others and in various positions in the Northern Indiana Missionary Baptist Education District Association Inc., including assistant secretary and president of the non-pastor auxiliary. Licensed to preach at Renaissance Missionary Baptist Church in March 1997, Pastor-Elect Rowland also served as president of the Associate Ministers Auxiliary at the church.

Active in the community he served as volunteer chaplain for the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration and president of the Colony Heritage Addition neighborhood association.

Pastor-Elect Rowland is married to Michelle Rowland. The couple has four children: Devine Bradley, Gregory Rowland Jr., Destiny Bradley and Darnisha Bradley.
